OUR STORY

Before opening oda, the owner and chef Marina Cardak and her spouse ran Chicago’s favorite Turkish Cuisine restaurant in Andersonville for 15 years

Born and raised in Turkey’s neighboring country Georgia, renowned for its hospitality and the invention of wine, Marina decided to reach down to the roots of the Ottoman kitchen and bring the best of its legacy into a single menu of Oda.

The cuisine of Modern Turkey has been largely influenced by nomadic culture of the Turkish tribes and countries under the 600-year rule of the Ottoman Empire which spread over parts of Europe, West Asia, and Northern Africa.

Oda has many meanings in the Mediterranean and neighboring peoples’ heritages. Odas were poems of admiration in ancient Greece and the word itself denoted an accommodation in Turkish and Georgian etymology.
